Product

For the most part, Mnsu.edu Bugzilla products correspond to website domain names. If the website starts with http://www.mnsu.edu/ — "www.mnsu.edu" is the product, if it's http://ahn.mnsu.edu/ — "ahn.mnsu.edu", and so on.

If you can't find the right product, select "~I don't know where to put my bug!"

Component

Usually this is the name of the directory your website is in. If your website is www.mnsu.edu/wcenter/, the component is "wcenter".

if there is no component to match your website, select "root".

Version

  • All: the right choice in most cases.
  • Development: select this to update only the development website, on devweb2. This is mostly used for brand new websites when review and approval is required to go live.
  • Production: select this for changes only on the production (live) server.

URL

Please provide the exact address of the web page, like "http://www.mnsu.edu/wcenter/about/staff.html". If your request deals with a section of the website, please provide a link to that section, like "http://www.mnsu.edu/wcenter/about/".

Assigned To

In most cases, leave this field blank.

CC

Use the CC field to carbon-copy anyone who is interested in tracking the request. Only registered Mnsu.edu Bugzilla users can be CCd. Contact aleksey.lazar@mnsu.edu to create an account.

Priority

In most cases, use the default value.

Platform, OS

Platform and OS (Operating System) are detected automatically. These fields are not used, unless you are reporting a browser-specific web page rendering issue.

Severity

In most cases, use the default value.

Summary

Briefly summarize the request, e.g.: "Publish February newsletter" or "Give page edit access to [username]".

Description

Please describe the request in as much detail as you think is necessary. Be specific. Communicate deadlines clearly. For website/edit access, specify campus user IDs.

Commit

After all the fields are filled out please verify the information is correct and Commit the request. The system will generate a number for the request and automatically send out an email message to the default component owner, the CC list and to the bug reporter.
