KMSU Wins "Station of the Year" from Peers

At the annual meeting of the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations (AMPERS) held June 11th and 12th in Grand Marais, MN, KMSU was awarded the coveted "Station of the Year" plaque. The honor was bestowed for KMSU's infrastructure improvements, addition of a remote portable studio in the Centennial Student Union, and winning the Pathfinder Award over the past fiscal year, 2009. Station Manager, Jim Gullickson, said, "We are humbled and grateful for this recognition. Our loyal listener support, benevolent collaborators, underwriters and volunteers have made the past year so rewarding. The future is very bright for KMSU, and I am excited about the near future as we embark on some very compelling programming initiatives."

Gullickson was re-elected President of the Association at the annual meeting, and has been instrumental in securing Legacy Amendment funding for the AMPERS organization over the past five months. This funding, earmarked for Arts and Cultural Heritage programming, will result in a higher profile for the twelve independently programmed AMPERS stations, branded as Independent Public Radio. Station listeners and supporters, and Minnesotans in general, will benefit from the new and easily accessed programming. More to come!
