I'm Mark Thomas & I'll be your
host for the next two hours.
We'll be hearing an eclectic world music soundscape, this evening; beginning with music from Irish accordianist, Karen Tweed, along with & Ian Carr; from their new CD, "Fyace." Also from Ireland; the haunting voice of Niamh Parsons singing, "The Briar & the Rose." - We'll hear The Mollys "tangled roots," mix of celtic, country, and Tex-Mex with a rock"n" roll drive.

A couple of tunes from "Baba Yaga" Norwegian

We will hear some Turkish Pop by the vocalist Tarkan,
then we'll hear a couple techno tracks from the CD, EUROPOP by the Italian group,
Eiffel 65. We will hear Kepa
Junkera, from the Basque region of Spain, playing the trikitixa.
We will hear Argentinian, Gustavo Santaolalla
playing the ronroco (a small guitar-like instrument with 10 ten strings,
arranged in 5 pairs),
In the second hour we will hear music from the
Afro-Cuban All-Stars and then a couple of tunes
from Eliades Ochoa & Compay Segundo, a spin-off
project the Buena Vista Social Club. We will wind-down with music by former
Zap Mama vocalist, Sally Nyolo and we'll hear a
couple of tracks from Senegalese musicians, Touré - Touré.

by Øystein Sevåg. From the cd, "Bothy Culture," this
is Martyn Bennett,
with a trippy, contemporary-take on traditional Scottish music with
a song called, "Tongues of Kali."
