Mauricio is the founder of centroamericanto.com, a directory of Central American singer-songwriters. In addition, he produces a weekly radio program showcasing Central American music.

He is related, on his father's side to the Mongo people, known for
their polyphonic singing. His mother is from Rwanda, a country known
for its sophisticated court music. He grew up in Kinshasha where he
was steeped in music from morning till night. He made his decision
to become a singer after attending a Miriam Makeba concert. His songs
are sung in Lingala, Portuguese and French.
