Singer, writer and composer, Peppe Voltarelli is an Italian superstar with a colorful
background. He was born in Cosenza, in the south of Italy. Peppe started his first band, "Il Parto delle Nuvole Pesanti" in 1990 in Bologna, the band mixed rock and calabrian folk music. He and the band produced seven cds and staged hundreds of concerts in Italy and other countries. Peppe began his solo creer in 2006. We will be hearing tracks from his new album, titled "Ultima Notte A Malá Strana."

He played music from across the African continent, from east to west and north to south. Ned introduced me to the music of Johnny Clegg back in the early 1990's. We will be hearing Johnny Clegg and Savuka singing their classic, "Scatterlings of Africa."

in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is related,
on his father's side to the Mongo people, known
for their polyphonic singing. His mother is from
Rwanda, a country known for its sophisticated
court music. He grew up in Kinshasha where he
was steeped in music from morning till night.
He made his decision to become a singer after
attending a Miriam Makeba concert. His songs are
sung in Lingala, Portuguese and French.
