background. He was born in Cosenza, in the south of Italy. Peppe started his first band, "Il Parto delle Nuvole Pesanti" in 1990 in Bologna, the band mixed rock and calabrian folk music. He and the band produced seven cds and staged hundreds of concerts in Italy and other countries. Peppe began his solo creer in 2006. We will be hearing music of the 21-stringed, harp-like West African kora by Mamadou Diabate, who is decended from a long line of Malian kora-playing Manding griots. Mamadou Diabate's cd, "Courage" was recorded in Bamako, the capitol of Mali. His last album, "Douga Mansa" was winner of the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Traditional World Music Album.
