German Programs

Mastering the German language gives students an edge when looking for job opportunities with companies that are based in or do business with other companies in German-speaking nations. Students will gain an understanding of German cultures, literature and history that will help them feel at home around the world.

Placement Exams

Language placement exams determine which language course a student should take as their first course in the program.

Study Abroad

The German program offers a range of study abroad options. We encourage students strongly to participate in these opportunities and to consult with faculty early in the planning process. All the credits accumulated regarding the field of German language, literature, and culture studies transfer back and towards German major and minor requirements. Students may also be eligible for financial aid for their study abroad experience.

Student Resources

You can find a range of resources in terms of getting started in the German program at MSU. Advising in the College of Arts & Humanities, scholarships and internship opportunities, assistance to prepare scholarship applications, and other resources that let you access German magazines, radio streams, and literary texts.
