Scandinavian Studies Program

Page address:

Majoring in Scandinavian Studies Program at Minnesota State Mankato offers students an opportunity to combine mastery of the Norwegian or Swedish languages with study of the diversity and richness of the greater Nordic cultural region. It provides students with a familiarity of Scandinavian heritage and history, from the Vikings to modern design. And it prepares students to live and work in any of the Scandinavian countries—Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland—which are setting the pace in communications technology, environmental awareness, social equality, and international peace initiatives.

We strongly encourage Scandinavian Studies majors to consider studying abroad during the course of their college careers. Exchange programs designed specifically for Scandinavian Studies students are available, as are extracurricular activities.

Scandinavian Studies is an interdisciplinary program; a Bachelor of Arts is offered to students who choose to major; a minor in Scandinavian Studies is also available. Course offerings can be found in the Undergraduate Bulletin.
