Study Abroad

MSU sponsors exchange programs in Sweden and Finland for computer and information sciences, international business, and social work. Other exchanges and opportunities to study in Scandinavia, including summer courses, are highly recommended for all students in the Scandinavian Studies Program.

An exchange with Högskolan in Borås, Sweden, is maintained for computer science and management majors. The MSU department of international business has an exchange with Helia Business Polytechnic in Helsinki, Finland, and the social work department sponsors a program with Helsinki Polytechnic.

A minor in Scandinavian Studies with study of Swedish is especially suitable if you plan to participate in these exchanges. Since Swedish and Finnish are the official languages of Finland, MSU exchange students in Finland have found prior study of Swedish advantageous. The MSU wireless campus initiative has been developed in partnership with Nokia of Finland, and the MSU department of electrical engineering technology maintains an informal relationship with Oulu Polytechnic-Institute of Technology (OIT) in Oulu, Finland. In addition, the MSU law enforcement program and political science department sponsor a short-term study abroad in Iceland in conjunction with the course, Comparative Criminal Justice Systems.
