For students in Spanish [DOC] The Paul Waldorf Scholarship (29 KiB)

[DOC] Waldorf Scholarship (29 KiB): for students of Spanish: one $500 Scholarship. Dr. Waldorf taught at Mankato State from 1949 to 1976. He was in many respects the "father" of the Department of World Languages & Cultures. When it began, he was the whole department, but during the years to his leadership it expanded to a point where at least 15 full-time faculty members taught courses in five languages. Although his major field was Spanish, he also enjoyed teaching French and, more rarely, German when the departmental schedule would allow it. He and his wife loved to travel and believed strongly in getting students into the countries where the language they were studying was spoken. As a result he started the department's first study abroad program. For 17 years he and his wife took students to study in Mexico.

The Scholarship will be awarded this year in their honor. All language students who will be attending MSU during the 2012-2013 academic year, graduate or undergraduate, are encouraged to apply. The possibility of consecutive awards is not precluded. [DOC] Application forms (28 KiB)are due April 6, 2012 and should be turned into the main office (AH227) with an unofficial transcript.
