Alpha Mu Gamma (Modern Language Honor Society)

Alpha Mu Gamma is a national collegiate honor society for students majoring or minoring in world languages. It was established in 1931. Minnesota State’s Beta Zeta chapter was established in 1961. The purposes of the Society are to recognize achievement in foreign language study; nurture an interest in the study of foreign languages; stimulate a desire for linguistic attainment; and to foster sympathetic understanding of other peoples through the medium of languages. Membership is generally offered to students who have a 3.0 GPA and who have earned two A’s in one foreign language. Students may be admitted at any stage in their college career.

La Mesa de Conversación

La mesa de conversación is a free conversation hour open to all members of the community interested improving their Spanish conversation ability. There is no registration and most students are members of the community or Minnesota State University, Mankato students/staff. Beginners, intermediate/advanced speakers meet from 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Mondays in AH 231.

Spanish Club

Immerse yourself in the exuberant cultures of Spanish speaking countries through a variety of events and activities - join Spanish Club! Beginners, intermediate/advanced speakers meet from 6:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesdays in AH 217.

Purpose: To encourage socializing among students of the Spanish language, to provide a chance to practice speech skills, to organize and attend cultural events of interest to the students, and to promote informational exchange between the students.
