South Central Minnesota Pride Dance this Saturday

A community gathering with a rich tradition shifts hosts this Saturday, March 3.

South Central Minnesota Pride announces that they will host a dance on Saturday, March 3, 2007. Join us between 8 p.m. and midnight at the VFW Morson Ario at 1900 North Riverfront Drive in Mankato. Participants must be 18 or older to enter, and at least 21 years old to drink. Everyone 18+ is welcome. There is a $5 entry fee.

Hosted by SAGE, a recognized student organization at Minnesota State University, Mankato, for more than 15 years, this is the first LGBT and allied dance hosted by the non-profit community organization. (LGBT is an abbreviation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.)

SCMN Pride started in 2002, when community members came together to plan the first-ever Pride celebration in south central Minnesota. Since then our group—and our Pridefests—have grown, and in 2006 we incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. While we still do the work of planning our annual Pride celebration, we are also organizing events year-round, such as pride dances and film festivals.

If you are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, or questioning, or an ally of those who are, we invite you to join SCMN Pride, attend a meeting, or make a contribution. Our annual Pridefests are held the weekend after Labor Day, but you don't have to wait until September to get involved!

For more information about this event please email deirdre.rosenfeld@gmail.com or visit the SCMN Pride website.
