Hello everyone!
SCMN Pridefest is taking place this weekend! This year's festival, themed "Peace & Pride in the Park," will begin on Friday night at 7:30 at the Pub 500 with an exciting "Queeryoke" event.
On Saturday, the second annual Pride Parade will begin at 11:00, following Riverfront Drive from Rock Street to Main Street, ending at Reconciliation Park. If you'd like to join the parade, please arrive between 10:00 and 10:45 for the line-up, or you can also cheer us on from the sidewalk!
The Festival will begin after the Parade at noon in Sibley Park. Our Main Stage events will include Ocho, Sister Gin, Sick of Sarah, and Blue Velveeta among others, and will be hosted by the magnificent Gosh Alice Jones! There will also be an ongoing drag competition throughout the day that you won't want to miss. Also new this year, a beer tent will be open for those 21 and older to enjoy beer sold by the Pub 500.
After the festival, join your friends at the Pub 500 for the Pride Patio Party from 5:30 to 8, then head down to the VFW Morson-Ario (1900 Riverfront Dr.) for the Pride Dance from 8 to midnight, where the drag competition will conclude with the crowning of Mr. & Ms. SCMN Pride 2007! Music will be provided by Extreme Sound and Light. Hope to see everyone there!
For those of you who have said you are willing to volunteer, Pride is looking for volunteers for multiple positions. Please email scmnpride.volunteers@gmail.com for details.
Mark your calendars! Our Fall Drag Show will take place on Monday, October 8 as a part of Coming Out Week 2007. More details will follow.
And now, for an exciting announcement... The LGBTC is moving! Don't worry though, we're not going far. Starting next week, we will temporarily be located in CSU 168 until we move into our brand new office! Since we have grown so much, we are beginning a new chapter in our history in which we are becoming an independent institution within MSU. We would like to sincerely thank the SLD&SL for their extraordinary support over the years, as we would not be where we are today without them! We've shared some wonderful times together, and we look forward to continue working with them in the future.
