The Mankato Area Lifelong Learners welcomes anyone 50 years or older who wishes to share the joys of learning and friendship in an informal setting. Special events and social activities provide opportunities to make new friends. Annual Membership is $25 for a single and $45 for a couple (good for one year); tuition fees are $5 for each course with a maximum of $30 per term.

Mankato Area Lifelong Learners is affiliated with the Elderhostel Institute Network (EIN), an association of independent, member-directed Lifelong Learning Institute.

We began, in 1996, by a steering committee of community leaders. It is a member-directed organization responsible for its own financial, clerical and programming functions. The University, as our sponsoring institution, has generously provided gathering and office space. Sessions are planned for fall, winter, spring and summer. Programs are usually taught by members who share their knowledge and experience in such areas of interest as history, literature, arts, theater, music, science, philosophy and personal finance.

Most presentations/classes are held off-campus at a variety of community locations. A few presentations/classes are held on the MSU campus which is completely handicapped accessible.
