Potluck groups are available as a way of meeting other members socially. Eight members in each group meet four times during the five-month periods Sept.-Jan. and March-July. Each potluck is held in a different members' home; host provides the entree and other members bring the vegetable, salad and dessert. In February and August, an all-member potluck is held at which time members are assigned to new groups. Potluck groups are open to couples and singles alike. Randy Czeswik and Tom Hanson from the Twin Cities area will be conduting the first meeting of the Mankato Area Lifelong Learners Great Decision Discussion Group Wednesday, September 21 at 2 p.m. in the Snell Motors Community Room. Tom will present a background lecture and lead the discussion on the Global Financial Crisis. Tom Hanson is a retired diplomat from the U.S. State Department, a member of the St. Paul Great Decisions Discussions Group and a frequent consultant/lecturer for area corporations. Randy manages two Great Decisions Discussions groups; one in Grand Marais and one in St. Paul. The group will also be looking for a few members to volunteer for leadership roles. The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra presents "Hadyn's Drumroll Symphony" at 10:30 a.m. at the Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie. Leave at 9:15 a.m. from the Madison East back parking lot.; return around 2:00 p.m. Bring your own bag lunch to eat on the way home, we will not be stopping for lunch.

"Capital Crimes: The St. Paul Gangster Musical" by David Hawley and Drew Jansen will be held at 10 a.m. at the in St. Paul History Theatre. We will leave at 8 a.m. from the Madison East back parking lot and return around 3:30 p.m. Lunch is on your own at Macy's "The River Room" in St. Paul. Open menu includes entrees for $9-14 and soup for $4.95.
