Objectives

Ronald E. McNair Achievement Program

The MSU Ronald E. McNair Achievement Program strives to:

• Identify and select students for program participation
• Match each student with a mentor in his or her field/major
• Assist students in maintaining a 3.0 GPA prior to receiving a baccalaureate degree
• Provide students with social and cultural programs that will enhance participants' understanding of cultural diversity and their ability to achieve their educational goals in a multicultural society
• Encourage all participants to apply for doctoral or professional programs during their senior year
• Provide access to computer training and equipment for research and other academic activities

All participants, the MSU McNair Achievement, are expected to:

• Conduct original and independent research supervised by faculty mentors
• Attend all McNair events
• Fully participate in the research component of the program
• Graduate from college
• Apply to graduate and doctoral programs
