Objectives

Ronald E. McNair Achievement Program

The MSU Ronald E. McNair Achievement Program strives to:

  • Identify and select students for program participation
  • Match each student with a mentor in his or her field/major
  • Assist students in maintaining a 3.0 GPA
  • Provide students with social and cultural programs that will enhance participants' understanding of cultural diversity and their ability to achieve their educational goals in a multicultural society
  • Encourage all participants to apply for terminal programs during their senior year
  • Provide access to computer training and equipment for research and other academic activities

All MSU McNair Achievement scholars are expected to:

  • Conduct original and independent research supervised by faculty mentors
  • Attend all McNair events including but not limited to: orientation, research workshops, graduate school workshops, conferences, and the summer GRE preparatory course
  • Present at the Undergraduate Research Center (URC)
  • Participate in graduate school campus visits
  • Graduate from MSU Mankato in a timely fashion
  • Apply to graduate programs
