We, as a group, like to describe this project as a journey. Our journey consisted of frustrations, joys, friendships, and a visual story of a very special person.
We came together as a group almost instantly. Every group member was comfortable discussing their strengths and weaknesses as a person. This allowed us to identify which person would handle which task; whether it was equipment operation, editing, or contacting our interviewee, everyone had a role. As a group, our overall strength was our friendship that developed over the semester with not only each other but our interviewee as well. Our weakness, which ended up being a blessing, was our inability to find an interviewee at the beginning of the semester. We went through two or three people before finally finding Ashley.
Ashley was the perfect interviewee. With her sense of humor, openness, and optimism, she allowed us to create her visual story. Each one of us thoroughly enjoyed the interview and the time that was shared with her.
Following the interview, we found ourselves turning to one another for support in relation to technology, media, and so forth. Our group relearned the word patience. While the problems were frustrating, they made us stronger as a group. We were able to help one another and learn from the problems that not only we were facing as individuals but from the problems our group members were facing as well.
The project we created is something we are all proud of. While at times the project was overwhelming, the feeling of accomplishment and friendship deletes whatever doubts and fears we had about our completion. We believe that this was a journey and at the end of this journey were new friends, patience, and an ability to tell a wonderful story about a wonderful woman, Ashley.
