This oral history project has been a very interesting and knowledgeable process so far. The interview itself went very well and our interviewee answered all the questions we asked and told some great stories as well. As a group we all get along really well and work well together. Some other things that have gone well in this project are that as a group we very easily picked an interview candidate and a list of questions to ask her. We also easily divided up the duties among the group members, and thus far everyone has done a great job on keeping up on their individual tasks. We were very well organized and have done a very good job at making decisions together.
As a group, the one thing that has been difficult is getting to work on editing our video. We had our video done fairly early and were expecting that would give us more than enough time to edit and put our project together, but with the difficulties we encountered in the uploading process, we haven’t got as much done has we hoped. It was fairly difficult to coordinate between all the groups when each would get to use the video equipment to upload their individual videos. It was also frustrating at the interview when we realized the microphone wasn’t on and had to re-record part of the interview. One more thing that was a little difficult was finding time for all of our group members to meet outside of class. We all have different schedules and jobs, which has made it difficult to find time that we all have free to meet.
Even though we did have some difficulties and successes with the project, there was one major part of the project that made everything work. Without Cat the project would not have happened or the project would have been different. We are happy with how everything has turned out and enjoy having found out something new about a person that has attended our school recently. Cat’s experiences were interesting and not one person can say that they’ve had the same experiences. Everyone is different. None of us have had backgrounds with the military so it was really interesting to see what it was like for Cat.
Cat related to our class in the aspects that the class is all about growing up, and that’s what she was talking about; she was talking about her coming of age.
