There are many ways that our group benefited from doing this project. We had the opportunity to see what adolescence was like in the past, and with this, we were able to compare and contrast the differences and similarities between our interviewees life and our own. It is not everyday you get to hear about the life story of a woman who has lived through many things, and just that alone, was intriguing for all of us. We discovered remarkable things from Evelyn; for example, her father was a night watchman in the late 1800s before he emigrated from Ireland to the United States. This isnt talking directly about Evelyns own experience growing up, but that is the very point we are trying to stress. When we learned about this womans life, we learned interesting facts about the people that were a part of her life as well. Receiving the information that we did from Evelyn gave us the desire to wonder what it might have been like to live a day in her shoes during her adolescence. Everyday people are living different lives and it is interesting to sit down and realize how different these lives can actually be from others. We encourage anyone who is visiting this website to take time to sit down with someone of a different cultural/ethnic background and get to know interesting facts about one another.
