Gail Abraham was born January 23, 1948 in Lake City, Minnesota. Gail is the daughter of Harlan and Hazel Freiheit. Both of her parents were born and raised in rural Minnesota. She is one of three children; she has an older sister Gloria and a younger brother David. Growing up on a farm, Gail had chores to do in the home and around the farm. When not working on the farm her playtime was spent with her siblings and cousins. Throughout school Gail made her own clothing to wear to class and was oftentimes seen as the “farm girl.” She attended elementary school in a one room school house with other children from the area for two years until it closed. She then completed elementary school in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota. Later she attended school in Lake City, Minnesota where she finished grades 7-12 and graduated.
After high school Gail attended college with childhood dream of becoming a secretary. She accepted an office job here on campus and in the following years took several opportunities to broaden her experience by transferring to other jobs in different departments on campus. After moving around campus she finally accepted an office job in the Women’s Center, where she continues to work today, enjoying the company of incoming students and fellow employees.
