Katherine (Katy) Chase was born on April 5, 1957, in Walnut Creek, California. She has three older brothers, the eldest, Stephen, the middle, David, and the youngest of the three, Roy. She grew up in a fairly liberal and open-minded family for the time. Most of her childhood was located in different cities of Southern California, spending summers in Northern Minnesota. However, a large portion of her childhood was spent abroad while the family relocated for various business ventures. During this time she lived in Bahrain and attended her earlier years of high school at a boarding school in Spain. She was forced out of her house at the young age of sixteen for about one year, but fell ill and was taken back in by her parents. Because Katy moved so frequently throughout her childhood, she never graduated from high school. She received her GED at the age of eighteen and went on to receive a B.A. in Elementary Education and English. Katy has been married and divorced three times; she is now a strong, single mother of two teenage children.
Katy experienced a rough childhood and an even rougher transition into adulthood. She has learned a lot of her mistakes the hard way, but holds pride in the fact that she can pass that knowledge onto her children. Katy has been through a lot of hard times, difficult marriages, and some pretty unhappy childhood experiences, but she believes that her trials and tribulations have made her the cultured, independent woman she is today.
