Leah Pederson

On October 15, 1982, Leah Kelly Pederson was born an only child to two proud parents, Robert and Diana Pederson. Leah grew up in New Ulm, Minnesota, yet her childhood was not like many because she spent most of her summers at her parents’ summer house in Custer, South Dakota.

Growing up, Leah Pederson would describe New Ulm as a small, German town where old people kept their lawns neat and clean. Throughout her childhood years she struggled back and forth on where she felt more like herself, in New Ulm or Custer, and now she believes that these two different lives have made her who she is today.

Leah Pederson has overcome many obstacles in her life going from abusive relationships to substance abuse for 4 1/2 years and to now being a single parent to a beautiful 3-year-old girl and so close to completing her degree in English/Speech Secondary Education. Not only is Leah a single parent and a college student, but she also has been working at Kohl’s for the past 4 years and has been associate of the month twice. Though her childhood was unlike many others, Leah has no regrets about her past and only looks at her experiences as learning tools to help her with her career as a teacher and to educate her daughter with the values she was taught growing up.
