Leah’s Group Reflections

We got off to an early start and everything was going good, but then we hit a bump in the road because our video had no sound and we had to re-do the interview. This was very frustrating at first because we had tried so hard to get the interview done early and then we ended up being one of the last groups to do the interview. What was also frustrating was that by having to reschedule the interview; it caused a lot of problems because of our group’s schedule and Leah’s. When we finally got the chance to re-do the interview Hayley, Leah’s daughter, ended up having to be there this time because Leah did not have a babysitter. Now, this was not a big deal for us to have Hayley there; however we do feel that now she may be distracting to what Leah was saying. What was also harder about this interview was that her boyfriend was there as well and she may have not been as in-depth with what she was talking about as she was before. But this could also be because she had already gone into depth one time before and just knew what to say to get the point across the second time around.

After we completed the task of the interview, realizing that we could not all make it to the second one, we really worked hard as a group to break up the remainder of the project throughout the group members in order to get the project done and on time. We know that we have had a lot of struggles throughout this project, but we as a group truly worked well together to get everything done and make sure that everything looked great. As a group we feel like we have accomplished a great deal and feel that we have learned so much more about Leah and the life of someone who was a single child, with substance abuse, and who dealt with an abusive relationship. Now as we think back on this past interview we feel we have a sense of understanding about this life Leah lived and that maybe we can notice this more in others around us and help them.
