Linda's Group Reflections

The Women's Studies project was a very valuable experience for each of our group members. It was unfortunate that each of us couldnt be present for the live interview; however there were many other tasks available to contribute to, making this opportunity beneficial to all.

The most enjoyable part of the interview was listening to Lindas stories. It was interesting as well as entertaining comparing how a young woman grew up in the 1950s and 60s with our own experiences as young Minnesota women today. Growing up in a family of 18 kids, Linda had many humorous stories to share some entertaining, and some just purely unbelievable. For us, its normal to grow up with 2 or 3 siblings, making it so hard to imagine how a household such as the Mages ran smoothly. It was also interesting as well as inspiring to hear how a family of that size led such a happy life on low income.

Beyond the pure enjoyment of the stories, we all had a chance to enhance our technical skills. Whether it was using recording equipment or computers to edit, the process was time consuming, but worth it. Overall, the experience as a whole was very valuable and will be beneficial to each of us in our further education.
