Phyllis’ Group Reflections

This project has been a wonderful experience. We took a road trip to interview Phyllis, and we had an amazing time getting to know her and learning about her life. Everyone in this group would say that we learned a lot about Phyllis through her vivid memories. She was able to talk comfortably to us about growing up on a farm, working at a hatchery, and being an independent woman when that wasn’t considered the norm. It was hard work. Her beliefs allowed Phyllis to travel the world and to do things, which for most women her age, would have been unthinkable. Our group has seen what it has been like for Phyllis growing up in Southern Minnesota as an independent woman, and her love for life has made us all look at our lives with a different perspective.
