Suzzanne's hometown

Suzzanne Rae Remus, the first and oldest daughter of William and Nelda Remus, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on July 26, 1963.

William was a mechanical draftsman for the Navy and Nelda held numerous jobs, one as the county treasurer for the city of Zimmerman. When Suzzanne was young, her father suffered injuries from an accident with a semi truck. No longer able to work, he became a stay-at-home dad. Although he received some compensation from the accident, Nelda was the main financial provider for the family at that time.

When Suzzanne was growing up, her family moved around often. Already being a shy child, it was hard to make friends at times due to the moves. The friends that Suzzanne made were good ones and special to her. Suzzanne's family was close knit and did many outdoor activities together, especially ice fishing and a summer favorite, camping.

When Suzzanne was around the age of five her parents separated. She and her sister Sonya, who is two years younger than Suzzanne, stayed with their father during the school year and spent the summers with their mother. The separation was difficult at times, but Suzzanne remained close to her father, as she still is today. The divorce was finalized about two years later.

Suzzanne was a good student in school and she often brought home report cards filled with pluses and S for satisfactory. Being a creative person, she enjoyed choir and art. Her parents encouraged her to enjoy what she did and to do the best that she could. She was involved in volleyball and attended football games, supporting the team with her strong school spirit.

In high school, Suzzanne had several jobs over the years, but enjoyed her coat check job the most. Her father was remarried by this time, adding more siblings to Suzzanne's family. Although her four siblings were much younger than she, she remained close to them.

Throughout her life, family has been one of the most important things for Suzzanne. Suzzanne is a mother, wife, and still uses her creative side in her everyday life while working as an Assistant Project Manager. Suzzanne tells her stories of childhood vividly and has an extensive collection of keepsakes, starting with a newspaper from the day she was born.
