Argamasilla de Alba claims to be the birthplace of Don Quixote. Locals argue that Cervantes was imprisoned in Medrano's Cave where he began to write his masterpiece. They also point to a painting hung in a nearby church that supposedly served as inspiration for the character we know as Don Quixote.
