Leadership Scholarship

Applicant Eligibility Criteria:

• Undergraduate students enrolled as a fully time student at MSU, Mankato for the entire

Academic year of the award [minimum twelve (12) credits}.

• Upon application, must have completed minimum of twelve (12) MSU credits.
• Applicant must have a minimum cumulative MSU GPA of 3.00.
• Applicant must have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to the Minnesota

State University community.

• Previous MSSA Leadership Scholarship recipients are not eligible.

Materials to be submitted to MSSA (CSU 280)

1. Completed Application Form
2. A typed Personal Statement in an essay form, maximum of 3 pages, responding to each of the following:
   • What makes you an exceptional leader:
   • How have you benefited the MSU community?
   • How will your experiences at MSU affect your future life when you leave the university?
   • Why do you deserve the MSSA Leadership Scholarship?
3. An unofficial MSU transcript.  Transfer students must provide unofficial MSU transcript and an unofficial transcript from previously attended U.S. university.
4. Two sealed recommendation letters from two different persons such as your advisor, faculty, or supervisor (minimum of one recommendation from MSU).

Recommendation letters must include the following:

• Recommendation Form included in the packet
• 1-2 page letter responding to questions on the Recommendation Form.

Applications will be reviewed by the MSSA Scholarship Committee.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Applications can be submitted to CSU 280, M-F  8:00 AM-4:00 PM

MSSA Leadership Scholarships will be awarded based on leadership and service experience,
personal statement and recommendations.

Five scholarships of $1000.00 each ($500.00 per semester) will be awarded for the 2007-2008 academic year.  Recipients agree to attend a reception in their honor held in April.
