Ann Louise Nadeau Britton, retired piano professor of Minnesota State University, Mankato, passed away on May 15, 2012, at the age of 77.
Ann attended the prestigious Oberlin School of Music, after which she traveled to Paris on a one-year scholarship. There, she performed, studied, and worked as rehearsal pianist for flutist Jean-Pierre Rampal. She then earned her Master's Degree from the University of Illinois - Champaign and her Doctorate from the university of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Ann headed the piano department at Minnesota State University, Mankato (with her then-husband, Bob Nadeau) also taught piano at Gustavus Adolphus College.
Ann was a gifted teacher and performer, often bringing her audiences to tears with her soulful performances of Bach, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, and especially Chopin. Countless students, acquaintances, and strangers were moved by her music, her generosity, and infectiously uplifting personality. She will be greatly missed.
