All events of the conference take place in the air-conditioned Performing Arts Center on the
campus of Minnesota State Mankato. Housing is in a nearby dormitory.
Musical Activities:
Large and small string ensembles are included in the activities of the conference: by audition,
the conferees are divided into the two large ensembles as well as into chamber ensembles.
The string orchestras will have a daily schedule of two rehearsals and a sectional rehearsal/techniques class.
In addition, all conferees will also participate in coached Chamber Ensembles and Master Classes on their
instrument. In the evenings there will be both a Faculty Recital and Student Recitals.

A recreation director is yet to be named.

Registration Information:
To enable us to make all necessary arrangements, including appropriate music for the various
performing groups, please complete appropriate registration forms (print out from the website)
and return with pre-registration fee of $50.00 (applicable to fee total, but non-refundable) as
early as possible, but no later than June 15. The balance of the fees, including housing and
meal fees must arrive at the Minnesota State Mankato Music Department no later than Monday,
July 17, and no refunds of any kind will be made after this date; this eliminates long registration
lines on Sunday afternoon. Conferees should plan to arrive at 1:00 p.m on Sunday, July 23;
further instructions will be mailed early in July. Conferees will be supervised at all hours by
a corps of counselors who will be housed in the dormitory with them. In turn the counselors will
be responsible to the Director of Recreation. The rules of the conference will be strictly enforced.
Parents of students of driving age who wish to take meals off campus should sign the permission at
the bottom of the application. Please indicate specific roommate requests (if any) with your application.
Scholarship Information:
We are fortunate again this year to have a grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council
Which will provide several partial scholarships for students from Minnesota's Region Nine.
Region Nine includes Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, LeSueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, Waseca, and
Watonwan Counties. Students from other regions should enquire at their schools about
possible scholarship assistance from local music booster organizations.
This activity is made possible by a grant provided by the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council,
Waseca, from funds appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature.
