"Working with Dale Haefner as a Music Industry Practicum student was an awesome experience that I truly value. I was in charge of a number of public relations duties, made arrangements with visiting guest artists, and performed a number of other business-related activities. I know this will help me in the future because I am now more comfortable working in a real-world music business environment.” -- Abbie Christensen, BS, Music Industry, 2011
Over a month-long period in their Music Management/Concert Production course, Music Industry students worked under the guidance of Professor Dale Haefner in order to gain some real-life experience in the music industry field, producing a quality off-campus concert at a local club.
"It's satisfying to get real hands-on experience,” Ben Wieman said. "It's much better than just reading a book and taking a test like in other classes."
Haefner received his baccalaureate degree in Music Industry and his Master of Science degree in Arts Administration from Minnesota State Mankato. Dale Haefner has served on a number of arts boards in the region and holds memberships in the National Association of Performing Arts Presenters, the Music & Entertainment Industry Educators Association, Minnesota Citizens for the Arts and the Minnesota Presenters Network. Haefner is a member of the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame for his efforts as a performing musician, studio musician, and tour manager for a number of regional bands.
