The curricula for our Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree offers two options – Vocal/General Music K-12 and Instrumental/General Music K-12. We strive to prepare you for the educational workplace of the future. Here are a few examples of the program's current evolution:
More practical skills in piano studies that you will use everyday in the classroom and in rehearsals, such as playing
accompaniments and conducting from the keyboard.
Step-by-step instruction in technology, ranging from SmartBoard apps for K-4 teachers to microphone placement and use
for jazz and pop groups at the senior high level.
Pop and commercial music study in our theory sequence, so that you will be able to work with students who want to know
more about contemporary music.
Revised curricular guidelines are being prepared. Please contact Dr. David Dickau
regarding the Choral/General K-12 option, or Dr. Roisum Foley
regarding the Instrumental/General K-12 option.
