This degree is offered in conjunction with Hennepin Technical College in Plymouth. Students pursuing this degree must work closely with advisors on both the Mankato and Hennepin campuses to ensure that all degree requirements are met.

Students must meet minimum Department of Music standards to be accepted into an Ensemble or Private Studio, and must be able to read musical notation fluently.

Summer Senior

5 to 16 credits

¹ Passing scores on theory placement exam is necessary to enroll in MUS 131, MUS 133, and MUS 160. Concurrent enrollment in MUS 131 and 133 is required.

² Singers may substitute two semesters of Class Instruction in Singing for two semesters of MUS 251 Private Voice.

Additional Requirements

• The student must earn the AAS - Audio Recording Specialist at Hennepin Technical College.
• All MSU, Mankato graduation requirements must be met, including:
  • 44 Credits of General Education are required (see our Bulletin), a maximum of 15-16 credits (maximum) at Hennepin, and 28-29 credits are earned at Minnesota State, Mankato. 7700 France and online courses can be used.
  • 40 Credits must be in 300 and 400 level courses. If you wish to follow the curriculum plan for this program exactly as it is laid out on this site, you should take at least one GenEd 300 level class during Freshman year, and all senior year GenEds should be 300-400 level. Upper-level electives in the College of Business are recommended.
• In the alternative, the internship can be expanded to as many as 16 credits.
