COB Required Laptop

Music Industry students will now be able to use Intel Macs for their College of Business coursework.

These are the minimum Intel Mac laptop requirements for Music Industry students, in conjunction with their COB minors:

Minimum Intel-Mac requirements:

• 160 GB Hard drive with 80 GB free for the Windows partition
• 4 GB RAM
• 2.26 GHz processor or higher, dual core
• NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
• 10/100 Ethernet network card
• MSU compliant wireless network card
• CD-RW drive
• Leopard(10.5) OS or newer

Whenever you are working on your College of Business courses, you must use your Mac in Dual-Boot PC mode. You will also need to acquire the software package of the PC versions of the standard MS business applications in use at Minnesota State University.



Do not ask for any exceptions, however small, to these requirements. Music Industry students' ability to use Macs for the COB depends entirely upon our good-faith compliance with these requirements.

Failure to comply with these requirements may require Music Industry students to purchase a PC for their College of Business coursework.

Go to the College of Business website for detailed information. Note that you are required to get a laptop only when you are enrolling in what the College of Business refers to as a "Laptop Class." If you wish to register for a laptop class, you must fill out and submit the COB Laptop Program Fee Form on the COB webpage prior to registration. Otherwise you will not be able to register.
