Feb. 20 forum to focus on clean energy, green jobs, economic recovery

Environment Minnesota will join Rep. Tim Walz and local environmental groups for a "Repower America Town Hall Forum" focusing on green jobs, the federal economic recovery plan and the economy Friday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m. in Ostrander Auditorium.

Participants will address efforts to use the federal economic recovery package to fund clean energy and public transit projects, and will discuss other local, state and federal opportunities to boost clean energy and fight global warming.

Walz will discuss his efforts to bring green jobs to Minnesota, followed by a panel discussion.

Panel participants include Gerry Parzino, international staff representative from the United Steelworkers and the Blue Green Alliance; Dan Juhl, CEO of Juhl Wind; former U.S. Rep. Tim Penny, president and CEO of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation; J. Drake Hamilton, science policy director with Fresh Energy; and Minnesota State Mankato faculty member Vincent Winstead.

Co-hosts of the forum are the Office of Strategic Business, Education, and Regional Partnerships; Fresh Energy; Audubon Minnesota; Minnesota Conservation Federation; and the National Wildlife Federation.
