On 10/28/2009 MSU Security took a report of an attempted sexual assault that occurred at an off campus location.
The victim reported that she was walking in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Mankato on Sunday October 25, 2009 between 2:30am and 3:00am. While talking with a friend, it was discovered that an unknown male was following the female. The victim had a short verbal conversation with the male and began walking away when the male punched her. The male continued to punch the victim and pulled her to the ground. The female was able to fight back and escape as the male was trying to remove her pants. The victim was able to get help from individuals in a nearby house and the Mankato Police were called.
The female did sustain some injuries that did require treatment.
The male suspect is described possibly of Mexican or Latino decent, approximately 5’8” to 5’10” tall, with dark eyebrows, eyes and short hair. Additionally, the suspect is described as having a round face and a stockier build. The male identified himself as “George” to the female.
Mankato Police are investigating the report and whether it is related to another assault reported earlier this fall in the same neighborhood.
Initial information from this report was also included in the MSU Reporter on Tuesday October 27, 2009.
*Anyone with information about the above incident is urged to call Campus Security at 389-2111 or the Mankato Police at 387-8770.
