Mankato Department of Public Safety police officers and subsequently MSU Security officers responded to an incident on the lawn of 430 Ellis Avenue, McElroy Residence Community, around 7:41 p.m. on September 22, 2010. Witnesses described seeing a group of dark-skinned males fighting with one pointing a gun at other individuals within the group. An officer arrived moments after the call and discovered those directly involved had left the area.
When police arrived the group dispersed and the person with the gun got into a vehicle and left the area. The vehicle is believed to have been occupied by three males and a female. The vehicle is described as a four-door, silver Dodge Neon with a noticeable dent between the front passenger and rear passenger door on the right side of the vehicle. No further description of the suspect is available.
So far, no one directly involved in the incident has stepped forward or contacted the Mankato Department of Public Safety. There is nothing to suggest that any of the individuals involved in this incident were college students.
