Personal Safety Alert- Sexual Assault

On 07/14/2012, MSU Security and the Mankato Police responded to a sexual assault in a campus parking lot. Upon routine patrol of the parking lot, Security Officers were able to interrupt the assault and identify the suspect. The suspect was transported off campus by police. A second suspect was also identified through a police investigation.

Sexual Assault

On 07/14/2012, MSU Security and the Mankato Police responded to a sexual assault in a campus parking lot. Upon routine patrol of the parking lot, Security Officers were able to interrupt the assault and identify the suspect. The suspect was transported off campus by police. A second suspect was also identified through a police investigation.

Officers learned that the male individuals had met the female victim just hours before the assault occurred.

The female victim was transported to the hospital for evaluation and released.

Charges are pending for both suspects.

Sexual assault is not sex; it is an act of violence. Although some people are assaulted by strangers, many other victims know their assailant.

• An advocate will be contacted for free and confidential services 24 hours a
day.
• Do not bathe, shower, or change your clothes until you have talked to an
advocate or the police.
