Mavericks After Dark: Maverick’s Take Flight Mankato, MN—Explore the sky and stars during Maverick’s After Dark: Maverick’s Take Flight on the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus.   The student programming board, IMPACT presents Maverick’s After Dark: Maverick’s Take Flight in the Centennial Student Union Lower Level on Saturday, Jan, 25, 2014 starting at 9pm. This performance is free to Minnesota State Minnesota, Mankato students and the Mankato community.   During the event, free parking is available in all Gold and pay lots in immediate proximity to the Centennial Student Union. For additional parking information please visit the parking website. (http://www.mnsu.edu/parking/maps.html)   The event will feature one hour long planetarium presentations in a Star Lab inflatable planetarium. These shows will feature constellations, the solar system, weather patterns, and deep space objects. A special 8pm presentation is scheduled for MNSU student parents.   The Maverick Flight Team will provide free flight lessons via Microsoft Flight Simulator. Participants will have opportunities to take off and land an aircraft of their selection. Other activities include printed green screen photos on the moon, pictures in an authentic prop NASA Gemini era space suit, moon boot obstacle course, informational displays, and free food.   At 11:30 pm, there will be a contest to win a free airplane ride at the Mankato Regional Airport with North Star Aviation. Participants will receive a paper airplane. Those who can hit a target from an elevated location will be put into a drawing for the prize. The board, advised by staff in the Student Activities Office, plans events funded through student activity fees.    Mavericks After Dark (M.A.D) is a late night programming series that consists of seven events, each academic year. M.A.D. is to provide an alternative to at risk behaviors. It is part of an ongoing effect at the University to create a positive campus environment through fun and engaging activities.
