Minnesota State Mankato music industry students to produce concert featuring several performing groups.
Minnesota State University, Mankato Music Department News Release, 10-30-2012
MANKATO, Minn. -- Music Industry students at Minnesota State University, Mankato will produce a concert on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 9:30 p.m. at The What's Up Lounge, 701 North Riverfront Drive, Mankato. Performing groups include Good Night, Gold Dust, The Bitterroot Band, and Boardwalk Arcade.
Admission is $5 at the door, and the show is for those 21 years and older.
Members of Dale Haefner's Wednesday evening Concert Production and Music Management class are learning what it takes to produce an event. Over a six-week period in their course, Minnesota State Mankato students majoring in Music Industry are working under Haefner's guidance to gain some hands-on experience in the music industry field. In the process, the small group of seven will divide all of the tasks associated with planning and promoting a quality concert.
Good Night, Gold Dust consists of singer/rhythm guitarist Laura Schultz, lead guitarist Colin Scharf, drummer Josh Willaert, bassist Eric Blake, and keyboardist Michelle Roche. Good Night, Gold Dust has released two EPs between 2010 and 2012. According to their website, their music isn't about playing what's trendy, rather "it's about distilling the groups myriad influences and idiosyncrasies into songs that feel and sound right to them."
Founded in October 2011, The Bitterroot Band has developed a strong following. Band members include Lee Henke, Ryan Acker, Isaac Hill, and Vinnie Donatelle. The Bitterroot Band constructs meaningful folk-minded lyrics with a rebellious rock attitude on raw traditional instruments. They are known for rowdy live performances that encourage the crowd to stomp along to every tune.
Boardwalk Arcade is an indie rock band consisting of guitarist/lead vocalist Sam Brady, bassist/vocalist Richie Ostrom, and drummer/vocalist David Ostrom.
