Application Form and Guidelines



Student Activities is accepting applications for the Stevens Leadership Scholarship.
Through the generosity of the Mankato business and professional community, Minnesota State University, Mankato Foundation, Inc. established the Mankato Leadership Endowment in 1996 in honor of Paul Stevens, who was a leader for many years at Mankato Citizen’s Telephone Company and then continued when it became HickoryTech Corporation. The award will provide a merit scholarship totaling $3000 for the recipient’s junior and senior year consecutively, providing $750/semester.

The scholarship is open to a student who:

·    Is a sophomore ready to enter his/her junior year of study, expecting to receive a baccalaureate degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato

·    Is accepted for admission to a program major, with a preference to students majoring in College of Business or Center for Science Engineering and Technology

·    Is a U.S. citizen

·    Has an overall GPA of 3.2 or better


Students interested in this scholarship need to submit the following materials in an e-mail by Noon on Friday, March 15, 20013 to


·         An application with biographical information (click here to download)

·         A statement about their intent to pursue a baccalaureate degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato

·         An essay of 600 words or less relating to the student’s leadership achievement within the Minnesota State University, Mankato community

·         Two letters of recommendation (one from a faculty member in the their major), and

·         A copy of their Minnesota State University, Mankato transcript


The scholarship winner will be announced and recognized at the Leadership Awards on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 4:00 pm in the Centennial Student Union, Room 253.
