March 5: Glen Taylor to Speak on Campus
Timberwolves majority owner to deliver annual Morgan Thomas Lecture.

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota Timberwolves majority owner Glen Taylor (pictured at right), the Chairman and CEO of Taylor Corporation, will speak from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5 at Ostrander Auditorium in Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Centennial Student Union.
Taylor’s lecture, free and open to the public, is the next installment of the annual Morgan Thomas Executive Lecture Series, sponsored by Minnesota State Mankato’s College of Business. The purpose of the event is for business professionals to share information about their careers, professions, lessons learned, trends, etc.
Seating is limited. Free event parking is available in the Visitor Pay Lot across from Centennial Student Union.
Taylor graduated from Minnesota State Mankato in 1962 with a degree in mathematics. Since then, he has gone on to study at Harvard Business School, serve in the Minnesota state senate, raise five children, build Taylor Corporation, buy the Minnesota Timberwolves and start the Minnesota Lynx professional basketball franchise, all while actively supporting both the university and the Mankato community. He was honored as a Distinguished Alumni in 1977 and received the university’s first honorary doctorate in 1996.
Taylor, owner and founder of Taylor Corporation, started his career with Carlson Wedding Service while attending college. He later purchased the business, assembled a passionate leadership team and dramatically expanded the firm’s capabilities through acquisitions and start-ups, bringing its spirit of ingenuity across markets and international borders.
Under Glen Taylor’s strategic vision and leadership for the past 35 years, Taylor’s products, services and partnerships have taken many shapes and forms, but its core personality has not changed: focus on the customer and create opportunity and security for Taylor employees. The Morgan Thomas Executive Lecture was established in 1982 in honor of former Dean of the College of Business, Dr. Morgan Thomas. Dr. Thomas served as Dean of the College of Business from 1960 to 1982. The lecture is open to students, faculty, staff and the general public.
