DATE OF NOTICE:   May 1, 2013     POSITION:    Marketing and Public Relations Intern for MSU Dance Marathon APPLICATION DEADLINE: Priority consideration given to applications received on or before May 13, 2013 DATE OF APPOINTMENT: May 2013-February 2014 SALARY:    This is an unpaid internship for which the student may earn credit.   RESPONSIBILITIES:   Serve as the chairperson of the Marketing and Public Relations Committee for MSU Dance Marathon.  Create and implement a marketing and public relations plan for the 2014 Dance Marathon.  Develop and manage social media presence for the organization and the events.  Develop graphics concepts and work with internal graphic design team to turn concepts into print and other visual marketing pieces around the theme.  Work with Finance & Fundraising Committee to develop and promote fundraising opportunities.  Work with Community Donations & Sponsorship Committee to maximize engagement and promotion of external sponsors.  Work with Participant Recruitment Committee to target student groups for event participation.  Develop a presentation to be delivered to student organizations and train the rest of community members on the delivery of the presentation.  Serve as the media relations contact for the event and the steering committee.  Participate in post-event assessment of the event itself, the committee’s work, and work completed individually.     QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  Enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate program in mass media, marketing, non-profit leadership, or a related field, with a graduation date of no earlier than May 2014.     OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Experience with various social media platforms.  Event planning experience.  Attention to detail, professionalism, and dependability.  Strong technological skills.  Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
