Auditions set for Aug. 25.
Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre and Dance News Release 8-8-2013
The Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre & Dance will hold auditions Sunday, Aug. 25, for children’s roles in their October production of “Les Misérables.” Auditions are 2 p.m. that day in the Ted Paul Theatre of the Earley Center for Performing Arts. Parking is available in Lot 16 adjacent to the Center.
To be cast are Young Cosette, Gavroche and possibly two or three other children. All girls will be asked to sing “Castle on a Cloud” and all boys will be asked to sing “The Beggars” (music cuttings may be found online at MSUTheatre.com).
Rehearsals for “Les Misérables” will begin on Aug. 27 but the children will receive a very specific and very limited rehearsal schedule at that time (Gavroche will be called far more than the others). “Les Misérables” opens on Oct. 3 and plays 10 performances through Oct. 13; see MSUTheatre.com for details.

Young Eponine: (non-soloist), 7 to 10 years old, a classic female “spoiled” child who should make our skin crawl. [Note: the actress may be no taller than 5 feet.]
Gavroche: (soloist), 10 to 12 years old, a classic male “go getter” with a ton of confidence and a strong, alto voice. He gets to die on stage! [Note: the actor may be no taller than 5’4”.]
Others: it is possible that we will cast two or three other children for the chorus, no taller than 5’4”.
