Oct. 15: Conference on Dementia Care

Workshop is geared for geriatric professionals.

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato will hold a full-day conference from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the South Central College Conference Center (1920 Lee Boulevard, North Mankato, Minn.) on the topic of “Therapeutic Interventions in Dementia Care.”

The keynote address will be delivered by Winnie Pao, a neurologist for Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato. Pao, who specializes in sleep disorders and dementia diagnostics, will update attendees on the latest Alzheimer’s disease and dementia research.

The conference is designed for geriatric professionals working with people experiencing cognitive disorders. Its goal is to provide direct training in a variety of therapeutic interventions with dementia, as well as to assist with the end-of-care, end-of-life transition through family-focused planning and care.

Registration cost is $85 if received by Wednesday, Oct. 9 and $95 if received after Oct. 9. The cost includes lunch and continuing education credits for nurses, social workers, nursing home administrators, psychologists and chaplains. The cost is $35 for full-time students and seniors, aged 60 and older, who do not need continuing education credits.
