Deconstructing Rachmaninoff - Lecture & Performace

Harvard trained practicing psychiatrist and world-renowned concert pianist Richard Kogan, MD (right) gives insights into how composer Sergei Rachmaninoff battled depression and a mental breakdown, yet survived to write the glorious Piano Concerto No. 2, dedicated to his psychiatrist. For the intellectually curious who long for the story behind the music, the first part of this concert involves a lecture before performing the entire piece.

  • Date: Sunday, March 2, 2014 - 3:00pm

  • Location: Mankato West High School

  • Music: Piano Concerto No. 2 in c minor, Op. 18, Rachmaninoff

KMSU will broadcast this concert on March 9th at 3pm.
