Upon successful completion of this conference, particIpants will be able to:

This workshop will support health and human service workers, families and volunteers to learn how to communicate with disoriented “old-old” people.  The workshop will focus upon the goals of restoring dignity to elders, to teach empathy, to support the development of self-awareness of one’s own aging, and to teach the applications of simple Validation Techniques.

The Workshop will achieve the following objectives:

  1. Experience an awareness of yourself and others
  2. Differentiate the phases of resolution in older people
  3. Identify specific Validation helping techniques
  4. Formulate ways of preventing burnout and ways of reaching a wise old age
