Good Thunder Reading Series Closes Out 2013-2014 Season With MNSU, Mankato Faculty Residency

The Good Thunder Reading Series hosts the final reading of the 2013-2014 season with the Minnesota State University, Mankato, Faculty Residency featuring poet and creative nonfiction writer Candace Black and fiction writer Roger Sheffer on April 24.

Candace Black, teaches in the creative writing program at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Her book of poems, The Volunteer, won the 2000 Minnesota Voices Prize and was published by New Rivers Press in 2003. A chapbook, Casa Marina, won the 2009 Thomas Wilhelmus Award and was published by RopeWalk Press in 2010. Her creative nonfiction has been published in The Blueroad Reader,turnrow, and War, Literature and the Arts.

Roger Sheffer has won several national short-story contests during the past five years, including those from Third CoastFugue,Yemassee, and Cream City Review. His most recent story collection is Music of the Inner Lakes.

Black and Sheffer will be interviewed on "Authors in Transit" on public-radio station KMSU-FM 89.7 airing Thursday at 1:00 p.m. and Friday at 11:00 a.m. The interview will be archived at the series web site.

They will lead a talk on craft at 3:00 p.m. in CSU Ostrander Auditorium, followed by a reading at 7:30 p.m. in CSU Room 253.
