On Thursday, October 2, poet Matthew Dickman and fiction writer Daniel Alarcón will answer questions about writing, present a craft talk, and give a reading. All events are free and open to the public.

Matthew Dickman is the author of Mayakovsky’s Revolver Mayakovsky's Revolver and All-American Poem, and the recipient of the Honickman First Book Prize, the May Sarton Award, the Kate Tufts Award, and the 2009 Oregon Book Award. He is co-author of the forthcoming 50 American Plays 50 American Plays from Copper Canyon Press. His poems have appeared in Tin HouseTin House, McSweeney’s, Ploughshares, McSweeney's, Ploughshares and the New YorkerNew Yorker, among others.

Daniel Alarcón is the author of War by CandlelightWar by Candlelight, a finalist for the 2005 PEN-Hemingway Award, and Lost City RadioLost City Radio, named a Best Novel of the Year by the San Francisco Chronicle San Francisco Chronicle and the Washington PostWashington Post. In 2010 the New Yorker New Yorker included him on its “Best 20 Writers Under 40” list. Alarcón is co-founder of Radio AmbulanteRadio Ambulante, a Spanish language storytelling podcast, and currently serves as a Fellow in the Investigative Reporting Program at the UC Berkeley School of Journalism.

An interview with both writers, part of the “Authors in Transit” series on public-radio station KMSU 89.7 FM, will air on Thursday, October 2, at 1p.m., and on Friday, October 3, at 11 a.m.
