Entrepreneur Film Festival
Film Festival to showcase entrepreneurs in the local community
The Minnesota State University, Mankato, College of Business is partnering with Made in Mankato to host an Entrepreneur Film Festival on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, in Ostrander Auditorium at the MNSU Campus. Made in Mankato is a group of professional video producers, film students and entrepreneurs who specialize in cinematic storytelling to showcase the stories of several unique small businesses created right here in Mankato.
The film festival is free to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with documentaries beginning at 7 p.m. A networking reception with the Made in Mankato film crew and featured entrepreneurs will follow the festival at approximately 8:30 p.m. This event kicks off Global Entrepreneurship Week, Nov. 17-23, which is the world's largest celebration of the innovators and job creators.
Businesses featured in the film festival include Bent River Outfitter, Coffee Hag, Mankato Brewery,
Mom & Pop's Ice Cream, Natural Pathways, Nicollet Bike Shop, Kato Crossfit, Indigo Organic, Dork Den, and Salvage Sisters. The MNSU College of Business created the festival as a way to:
- Provide an opportunity for students and community members to learn about the diversity of small business in Mankato.
- Highlight the creativity of a group of artists coming together in a very entrepreneurial way to support and promote Mankato small businesses.
- Enhance networking skills between students and entrepreneurs.
The Entrepreneur Film Festival is also incorporated into the College of Business 2015 Big Ideas Challenge, which is a new venture competition for MNSU students to support, celebrate, and promote their new and innovative business ideas. Winners compete for up to $10,000 in prize money.
